[ Lan Wangji loosens the ribbon and then helps Wei Ying shake out his hair, reaching for a washcloth so he can attempt to bathe his soon-to-be husband. He supposes he can save his back for later. ]
Mm? What is it, Wei Ying?
[ He tries to ignore how cute he looks from this angle in favor of trying to help him get clean. It's going to be a hassle getting him dry and then into bed, but he will try. ]
[He's been meaning to mention this while sober for the last day or so. But of course it slips out in a confusing drunken mess instead. At least this time he doesn't try to ask what he smells like.]
Question first, think hard okay? If I was a tea, what would it taste like?
[He blinks a few times, grinning at the way Lan Zhan taps his nose, and mulling the answer over. Loquats and hot peppers. Hm. Probably not a very tasty tea. Though spicy with sweet can be good too.]
I thought hm... I wouldn't be tea, but Emperor's Smile. And maybe some fresh-peeled lotus seeds? But if I had to be tea, I think spicy loquats could be all right.
[Wei Wuxian shrugs, supposing it doesn't matter if the teas are labeled anyway, and tries to look serious for a moment.]
I think... they put our abilities and powers into teas. Everything here is teas! But you can tell them apart by their smell and taste. Like marshmallows or flowers. So then I couldn't stop wondering what I would taste like, you know? The other Lan Zhan said he had no idea! But you know, I knew you would!
[ He leans in and takes a nibble out of Wei Ying's ear. But then resumes getting shampoo into his hair while he's seated like this. ]
Does it bother you?
[ That people will taste him... that people will drink his powers. He supposes he doesn't mind if anyone else drinks inquiry, as long as they put it to good use. ]
[He startles at the bite, but it's hard to reach from this angle to retaliate, so he just wrinkles his nose for a moment.]
Except apparently Lan Zhan.
[That, he does think over. There's so many things it could refer to. Does it bother him to not know? Or that his tea would taste bad? Or be a flavor he doesn't like? Or that someone else will find it first.]
I just thought... if I find Lan Zhan's tea. I'll save it for you.
If I find a tea that smells of loquats and spice, I will save it for Wei Ying.
[ The problem is, will they know which Wei Ying it belongs to? He supposes he can just hand them teas alternately until they have enough to use their powers. ]
If they have split my core, you can have some. I do not mind.
Good, good. I think some are labeled, but not all? Oh, and Lan Zhan said that these teas sometimes show up in your room!
[The demon wasn't terribly specific on that part. But it was something, after all. He leaves out the part about Lan Zhan's sweet-talking powers, funny as they were.
As for the rest, the alcohol dulls his reaction, so he's quiet for maybe a moment longer than he ought to be, reminded of that secret he's still holding on to. He returns with a smile though.]
No, no, don't be silly Lan Zhan! We'll each get our teas and everything will be fine! Imagine the mess, trying to untangle it all later. We'll make sure you're whole again, don't worry!
[ He tips up Wei Ying's chin, partially to kiss his cheek, partially to get a good angle to really get that shampoo in there. ]
What's mine is yours.
[ They will be married soon. And, if he's being really honest with himself, he has always just wanted to share everything with Wei Ying. His celebrations, his tribulations, his everything. ]
[He squirms a little, but keeps his smile, a soft laugh escaping as Lan Zhan kisses his cheek. But he's not sure how to say that whatever magic or technique they're using to take their abilities away, it's different, somehow. He's done enough research into golden cores to know, they're not something that can be split or shared.]
Yes, I feel like I'm getting the better end of that deal. What's mine is yours too, but that's not much! No lands, no money, no fancy titles, just me.
[He shrugs, leaning into the way Lan Zhan massages shampoo over his scalp because wow that feels nice.]
Oh- oh- but here it's pretty equal, isn't it? Free food and lodging and clothing. But I guess I took over your room a little huh? Still, this hotel is the fanciest cage I've ever been in I think.
[ He had been in several cages, hadn't he? He had probably thought of the Cloud Recesses as the nicest one, before this. He will get his freedom, when they return home. It's something he's looking forward to.
For now, he says instead: ]
Just you is the greatest gift.
[ What would Lan Wangji want of lands, or money, or titles? They have enough land such that everyone has a place to sleep and a place to live. They have money second to only Lanling Jin. He has a title synonymous with fairness, with strength, with sheer power.
If he had none of those things, he would still choose Wei Ying. ]
[He flushes, sinking lower in the tub. How can he talk like that? Flirtation came easily to Wei Wuxian, but that was part of a game. It was much harder to dismiss when he knew Lying is Forbidden and that Lan Zhan meant every word.
He looks up, a bubbly hand reaching back to stroke the side of Lan Zhan's face, and his grin widens at the trail of suds he's left behind.]
[He leans forward, compliant for once, and gathers his hair over his shoulder so Lan Zhan can wash his back more easily. The words are enough to make him smile childishly, even if Lan Zhan can't see it. He can't remember the last time he was someone's favorite anything, and it makes him feel a warmth in his chest that's only partly due to the alcohol.]
[He sighs, letting himself relax in the warm, bubbly water. If he were sober, he might have kicked up a little more fuss about Lan Zhan continuing to wash him, as if he's a kid who can't be trusted to do it himself. But it does feel nice, reminds him of those thorough hands in the spa, and he lets his eyes slip closed.]
[ He isn't a little kid, but Lan Wangji does just like to take care of him, provide for him. And right now, that he's drunk, it's like having a child to care for all over again.
Don't get him wrong, he does miss those days. ]
I'll make this quick.
[ He does, even as he does a thorough job, softly brushing at Wei Ying's skin. Only after he's well and satisfied does he start to bathe himself. ]
[He barely fidgets, on the verge of sleep as Lan Zhan finishes helping him bathe. Wei Wuxian leans on the edge of the tub, propping his head on an elbow and dozing lightly. Aside from a few little mumbles and twitches, he's gone fairly quiet, content to just lay here.
It takes a moment before he relaxes enough that he starts to slip deeper into the tub, only to startle back into wakefulness when his balance is offset. He blinks blearily, rubbing at his eyes.]
[Wei Wuxian manages to clamber out of the tub, only while leaning heavily on Lan Zhan, and tries to clumsily wrap a towel around himself. It's a bit easier to stay awake, when he's not warm and content, and his legs have stopped wobbling quite as much.
It's colder though, and he throws another towel around his shoulders before putting his arms around Lan Zhan's neck, hugging onto his back like a sleepy child.]
[ He turns in Wei Ying's arms and tries to help him towel off his hair. If needed, he'll distract him with plenty of soft kisses, so he doesn't fall asleep with wet hair.
But when they're nice and dry, he wraps Wei Ying in one of those plush robes and ushers him over to bed to properly tuck him in. ]
[He manages to stay awake, while Lan Zhan towels his hair dry, though not without nodding off a couple times. Wei Wuxian doesn't doze for long though, with kisses to distract him every so often. It feels unfair for Lan Zhan to tease him like this, when his heart is willing, but body so easily brought to this drunken and tired state.
He's sure there's things he should clarify, should have talked with Lan Zhan about, and hadn't Lan Zhan seemed worried about something? Bunnies, maybe? Couldn't have been that important if he can't recall it. He lets Lan Zhan lead him to bed, only to lay down haphazardly across the sheets. He yawns once, curling around a pillow and reaching out a hand toward Lan Zhan's robe.]
[ It is almost bedtime anyway, so Lan Wangji climbs into bed once his hair is reasonably dry, and curls up with Wei Ying. ]
Of course.
[ As if there was any question. He knows during the night, they'll shift and he'll have pulled Wei Ying on top of him. He supposes he'll just have to brace himself, if Wei Ying gets sick. ]
Go to sleep, Wei Ying. We will talk in the morning.
no subject
Mm? What is it, Wei Ying?

Loquat and hot peppers.

You're my favorite.

He does take this opportunity of movement to put just a little distance between them, only so he can wash Wei Ying's back. ]
And you, Wei Ying... you are mine.
no subject
Even when I'm annoying?
no subject
That's all the time.
[ And certainly, when they were younger. But that didn't stop him from falling head over heels in love. ]
no subject
[He tilts his head back, still a little wobbly.]
Lan Zhan, if you keep kissing me, I'll never want to leave the tub.
no subject
Then I won't.
[ Leave the tub? Or kiss him? He's in the middle of scrubbing Wei Ying's arms now, and then he's just got the legs left.
And the back of his ears.
And, well, he thinks he'd better let Wei Ying wash himself for the rest. ]
no subject
