Yes, everything is perfectly all right. [ Just in case Wuxian was worried something was wrong - it very, very much is not. ] Tea would be wonderful thank you. I'll see you soon.
[ It doesn't take him long to arrive - it's hardly a far distance, after all, and he was already ready when he called in the hope that he would not be interrupting. He's carrying a small parcel with him, wrapped in shiny blue paper, and he knocks even though he'd called ahead, just to be polite. He isn't terribly worried about making a good impression, the way he might under other circumstances with what he intends to ask, but...
Well. He cares a great deal about both of them, and he does very much want Wuxian to approve of him for Wanyin. ]
[Wei Wuxian doesn't both with tidying up the workroom, and instead busies himself with putting on some tea. Lan Xichen doesn't live far, after all, and while it's normal for him to give a bit of notice (walking in on them once is probably more than enough reminder to double-check), the request today does seem a bit more formal. He hums to himself as the water heats up- it's not as if he doesn't have a few ideas, as to what it could be about, but Wei Wuxian isn't the sort to let himself worry too much over such things, not when his brother-in-law will be arriving soon.
He dusts himself off, glancing down at his robes and startling at how much ink and dirt they've accumulated, nevermind that he's been wandering around in just his inner robes for most of the day. There's a flurry of motion as he gets dressed, smooths his hair down, and ties his ribbon in place before rushing to open the front door.]
[ The corners of his eyes crinkle in amusement as he smiles at Wuxian rushing to open the door for him. ]
Thank you.
[ Once he's stepped inside, he offers out the parcel to Wuxian. It's very light, as inside are a pair of tickets for a similar haunted weekend getaway to the one that had been donated to the charity auction. ]
It is not quite your birthday, but it seems close enough. I saw that you bid on tickets at the festival and thought perhaps you and Wangji would enjoy them.
[ Considering he had all of the information for the donors, it hadn't been too difficult to reach out to them directly and purchase a pair. He is not going to mention the other things that he saw Wuxian bid on - he has inadvertently both discovered and revealed enough about their sex lives, he thinks.
It is also not his only purpose here, of course, but he is far less nervous about that one. ]
[Wei Wuxian is quick to welcome his brother-in-law inside, despite a bit of mess and stray papers here and there with notes on his latest experiments and projects. He's not expecting a gift, and takes it with a rarely-seen surprised expression, before breaking into a wide smile.]
Ahh, that's- We will, we will absolutely enjoy them! These are perfect, thank you! Lan Zhan is going to be so excited!
[He'd approached the bidding with plenty of levity and his usual shamelessness, though he'd been both amused and surprised to see the twin jades bidding just as brazenly.
Wei Wuxian is quick to lead them both to a low-set table, a hastily thrown together tray of tea and snacks he'd had on-hand waiting for them.]
Have a seat, please! Haha, usually Lan Zhan handles this sort of thing, you'll have to forgive the lack of formality.
[He settles into a seat and remembers to pour for his guest, at least, though he's not as careful as Lan Zhan, and a drop or two falls on the table in the process.]
What's the occasion? Tea is fine and all, but I'm happy to grab something stronger.
[ There is the slightest hint of something like a sly gleam in his eyes at that surprised expression - he can't help but be just a little bit pleased that he managed to surprise him, especially when it seems it is a good surprise and it's followed by such a smile. ]
You are very welcome.
[ He follows Wuxian readily to the table, taking a seat as well and giving him a smile when he excuses the informality. ]
There is nothing to forgive.
[ If anything, it reminds him of one of the reasons that he is fond of Wuxian - how his antics at Cloud Recesses so many years ago had sunk under Wangji's skin, and had always made Lan Xichen have to hide his smile. ]
Ah - I think I had best stick with tea. [ The handful of times he had inadvertently had alcohol - or something like it - here or back at the hotel had produced nothing but rather embarrassing results for him, after all. Particularly with what he is here to talk about, since he suspects Wuxian has had more than enough of the manner of conversation on that subject that intoxicated Lan Xichen thinks is appropriate. ] I wanted to speak to you about Wanyin.
